Members geon
I was recently given a pair of PA speakers, a little old, but free, so i've redone the cabinets and I'm moving on to the speakers. Here's my question, the 15" low end speakers work fine, good sound, good shape, but the horns are not working, at least I don't hear much coming out of them. I've checked the wiring and one of the wires that goes from the bass speaker to the horn has what looks to be a transistor? or I don't know what soldered in the wire. Could this be the source of my problem and what is it?
Members Mackin
I don't really know what I'm talking about but could that thing be a passive crossover ? 2-way speaker systems usually have those built-in
Members geon
thank you for the info, if it is a crossover, can it be bi-passed? Any idea where I could find some wiring diagrams? Thanks for the effort, late

Thanks for the effort, late Doubtful that that is a problem. It is designed to keep the lows from the driver and the highs from the woofer. Try a battery to the two cords going to the horn, (disconnected from the rest) you should get a slight pop and that will tell you whether it's working. Members geon
Thanks alot Moody, do I just hold the wires to the battery + & -, and how do I ultimately determine if the horns are blown? Thank for the info, Late Geon
