Members Zozobra
I just got a new cab and I want to keep it looking good so I'm thinking of making a cover for it. I'm thinking of cutting and fitting a black tarp for this purpose as it will be strong and inexpensive. Has anyone done something like this before? Members Zacman0126
Unless your concerned about it looking tacky go for it. Haven't done this before but its about the simplest thing to do as far as sewing goes. I mean...your dimensions are that of a box...nothing complicated there. Should make for a fun first timer sewing project. Just remember, you need measure every length and what not, then add 2 inches, you will want this thing to slip on, not have to work it down like a pillow case. Members Zozobra
I'm not fussed about how it looks. Its function is to protect the tolex, not look pretty. If it looked pretty I'd need a cover cover so that the cover didnt get damaged I was thinking of gluing but I guess sewing is a much better idea. Professionaly made covers of similar finish cost a good
Members Belva
If you want cheap go to the local 2nd hand store & get a bunch of beach & bath towels. Sew 'em together & your good. BTW beach towels are my covers for the electric guitars while parked on their stands. But as I've said before, I'm a cheap b@$t@%d/!
Members Casey4s
I made this one a few years ago from Gortex® that has a rubberized coating on the inside. It's pretty close to waterproof.
Members solewheelin
^Thats brilliant! Most fabric stores sell a thick vinyl that would work perfectly. You could probably gaff it into a cover But it aint gore-tex!
Members Casey4s
I found that goretex in a regular fabric store and pretty reasonably priced.

Not the prettiest I've seen, but functional.
Members Zozobra
That looks real slick casey. I might have to look into something like that.
Members Casey4s
That looks real slick casey. I might have to look into something like that. It was my first time in combat with a frigging sewing machine, next time I'll make the template (pattern) and pay some old seamstres to sew it. Ugh... Members Zozobra
I like your thinking there. Now who do I know with such a device...
Members Belva
The goretex idea is a winner. It may be a bit more cash but if your moving gear in the back of a peecup truck you'll have rain protection. I may be a cheap b@$t@%d but I'm not pennywise & pound foolish. Members solewheelin
I really have to break out this old singer sewing machine to my left here and learn to use it. I'm great with my hands but that thing plain freaks me out.Anyway yes, it's so nice to play out with a dry speaker! To take it another step, ill bet you can make one that covers from the rain while you play. I guess an umbrella would work too.
