Members Faldoe
This may sound odd. My drummer has an extra heavy duty pearl straight cymbal stand - legs have a wide base. I want to attach a piece of plywood to a metal pole - that size that is meant to fit into the cymbal stand, so I can put my midi controller (M-Audio Radium 49) and laptop on top. The piece of wood isn't too large. I need to find some kind of bracket that I can attach to the wood and then to pole which goes into the stand... I thinking something with just 4 screws - a square type thing with maybe a plate that sandwiches the wood between the underside and top side of the wood..make sense? this would be the top plate - ___________________________ wood - _______________________________________________________________________________ then the bottom bracket ____________________________ the plate has screw holes, screws/bolts attach to the bottom bracket... Anyone know where I can find something like that already made?
Members WRGKMC
Humm. I'd first try the hardware store for brackets. They make mounts that mount to speakers that fit on poles for PA. And lastly they make brackets for mounting TVs on the wall like in hospitals. Maybe one of those brackets might work. I did something simular that might be easier and less expensive. I found a large bolt with a round top (lag Bolt) that would fit into the Cymbal stand that could be tightened by the clamp. Then drilled a hole through the wood and put some large washers on both sides and used lock washers and bolts to clamp it to the wood. Then I just set the extending bolt into the stand and wanged her down. Other than the top of the bolt on the wood top it was very sturdy. You could use some thin foam glued on the wood and hollow out where the bolt is and have a completely flat surface. Plus the foam would prevent stuff from slipping off so easily. Members Big Elipso
I was looking for an alternative way to mount a microphone. I went to my local Radio Shack and found what I was looking for in the CB antenna section. They have a bunch of different mounts and such. Might have something close to what you're looking for. Members WRGKMC
Ah, Another posibility. Hadnt thought of that one. Something like this might work for mounting to a tripod mic stand. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=242-020 Or the reverse http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=242-023 If one could be mounted to the stand and one to the wood they could screw together

Members ettsn
Go to the hardware store, pick up a length of 7/8" black pipe, threaded on one end. Also pick up a black pipe flange: Bolt flange to a board, screw pipe into flange, insert pipe into stand.

Members Strenge
Looks like you have a solution, but what I am currently doing (for live use) for a laptop + mixer (mackie, it's overkill and heavy), power strip and interface is to take an extra "x stand" I had and place a board on top. I added a lip around the sides and back of the board and painted it matt black The board does not move at all on the stand but just in case I have two cabinet handles that I'll attach to the underside; then I can stretch a bungie or two under the crosspieces of the x-stand.
