I am doing a complete overhaul of an OLP MM5 baritone guitar and need tuners for the 4x2 headstock.

Here's all the details you need to know:

1. Grover mid-sized 18:1 rotomatics are preferred but I'm fine with other possibilities, as long as the gear ratio is 16:1 or higher.

2. Full-sized Grover tuners are too big and won't fit

3. No, I don't want to use Sperzels :cop:

4. I'm looking for a chrome finish

5. Yes, I will buy the full set - I won't mind having extras lying around

6. I already contacted a bunch of Grover dealers and they wouldn't break up a set to make a 4x2 one

7. I know I can buy single Gotoh tuners but I wanted to check here first to see if anyone had any tuners they wanted to get rid of

Thanks!

I have about 10 seta in my parts cab I could give to you but I think they're all 6 in liners. I'm pretty sure the 3X3s are all ragged out so they wouldnt be of any use.

Best thing I can suggest is EBay them. Theres some dealers like Dragon Mountain that sell there and they have some excelent buys. I'm not a fan of grovers myseld. They get all schlockey when they get older.

Gotahs are excelent tuners. I've got just about every name brand and generic tuner on a guitar I've built or refurbed and Gotahs are a winner for me. I'd say Mighty Mites are a real sleeper too. Thay makes a superb tuner thats really smooth tuning with a high ratio. Schaller is all over the place in quality, I put Wilkerson on one of my last tele builds, The ratio isnt high enough for my preference, they are hard to get tuned well, but thet are made well.

What you want to do is check out the ones you think you want, then check they're ratios and physical mounting. Theres variations in weather they use the same set screw position or use pins so checking those are key if you dont want to modify.

You can pick up sete of Grovers or just about any other sets of tuners for about $30 Ebaying if you check daily. I just wouldnt buy used. Theres a reason why they're used, and many so called vintage tuners are shot.

The 10218N are the18:1 ratio

gotoh are really the best tuners available today, their height adjustable posts (HAP) and locking tuners are very flexible. The Delta series minis are not only beautifully made but feature a 21:1 ratio; you will be totally ruined for 12:1 after using them!

LMII has the deltas,

Machine tool importer Grizzly.com sells the top of the line HAP Magnums but plain chrome is absent:
