Members DukeOfBoom
Anyone have experience with these? I'm looking to code my own effects and these look really interesting. Both are in DSP but with different platforms and hardware configurations. I'm leaning toward the Line6 because it's cheaper. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what's up. Members musicdog400
I would like to hear what you find out. I was leaning toward open stomp but I think the environment was Windows only which was a deal killer for me. (My home machines are Ubuntu Linux). I have been fooling around learning how these DSP routines are written. I just wrote test VST with a very simple distortion and low pass filter. I was not aware Line6 had an equivalent, I will look into that.
Members DukeOfBoom
Line6 is windows only too. This is a cool preview video though: http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2008/03/13/messe08-grow-your-own-fx-pedals/
Members PermaNoobie
used to dev on a Soundart Chameleon it was cool, but deving for an orphan ain't that fun These days I'd probably personally tend to steer toward the line 6 just b/c of the momentum of the platform. As far as the OS issue, I'd probably set up a small dev box or use a swap tray (or even just dual boot) and treat the OS as part of a dev suite instead of thinking about it as "my desktop environment"
Members PermaNoobie
Hey musicdog - if you are in the Linux dev community, maybe you should give Line 6 a shout and see if you can't get an dev cell started to do the platform port
Members musicdog400
Maybe I should. Since gcc can be hosted on nearly any environment, and target nearly any environment, it just seems like a more logical choice.
