Series / Parallel Cab Extension Wiring Questions

Hello. I currently have two cabs I made with 8 ohm speakers. I wired them with parallel extension ports (one on each) and normally run them with one chained to the other for a total of 4ohm load.

I got a new amp that will only do 16 or 8 ohms. I was going to add a switch to one of the cabs to allow the extension port to switch from parallel to series, but in the process I had an easier idea.

Cab A now has an extension port that is wired in series, Cab B is still in parallel.

If I plug cab A into cab B using the series extension , I should now have an 16 ohm load yes?

I took an old plug and hard wired the tip to the sleeve and have stuck this in the series extension port. If I put this plug in the series extension, Cab A should now be able to run on it's own as 8 ohms yes?

If I keep the plug in and plug Cab B into Cab A using the existing parallel extension port on cab B, I should now have my original 4 ohm load yes?

Does anyone see a problem with this? An I thinking clearly or is there a better way to retain both 8 ohm cabs to run on their own, or together as 4 or 16?

Much help appreciated

If you want to run them at 16 ohms, you can just make a series cable. Wire two plugs in series. Tip get the hot lead from the amp, its ring goes to the tip of the second jack and the second jacks ring goes to the negative side of the amp jack. Basically its a cable with 3 1/4" jacks all in series. Tip to ring tip to ring tip to ring. When you want to run 16 ohms, just use that cable. Easiest solution possible.
