Members LCK
Hi, I'm new here. I usually hang out in the Songwriting forum. I have a Mac powerbook (OSX, 10.6.8) with GarageBand 2009. Does anyone know if this software would enable me to build a track from loops, the way you could do it with JamStudio? Also, is there a way to build a track from a Finale lead sheet? Sorry for my lack of knowledge and experience in this area. Thanks! LCK
Members WRGKMC
I'm good at windows DAW programs like Sonar, Steinberg and others. I'm not a Mac guy so I've never used Garage band before so I cant give you specifics like that. I know from others garage Band is a real simple and basic recording program that lacks alot of features. I would think it has editing tools all other DAW programs havebut like I said I've never used it. My only suggestions are, first read the manual and search for editing features. Thats how I learned to use all my DAW programs. Second you may want to post this in Phils forum or the recording forum. Phil is quite knowlegable on the apple stuff as well as others who hang there. Thya may be able to give you pointers. As far as Finale goes. I believe that program can import/export a midi file that can be imported into a DAW program. I have a simular program called Midisoft which is a notation program with midi playback. I'm sure it must have simular features where you can build a midi file and save it. Again you would have to look and see what Garage bands midi capibilities are. If it can play midi files then its just a matter of setting up midi and importing the midi files you saved from Finale.
