I've decided to build my own guitar... and i have a few questions... i bought a body from perle guitars of an ibanez 540p ii... it has holes already drilled into it for attaching to the neck. i bought an ibanez wizard neck... again with holes pre-drilled. nate perle cut the body specifically to fit with the wizard neck. my question is this... i have neck screws and ferrules. do i have to put anything between the neck and the body... like glue or washers? or do i just screw it in? i know... i know... i have a lot to learn!!! thanks in advance. Members Belva Posted July 7, 2012 Members Share Posted July 7, 2012 Screw the puppy in place. Get a bridge on and string it up. Then you'll be able to tell if everything lines up. Quite often you need to loosen the neck screws and shift it side to side for the outside strings to be even with the edge of the neck. You'll have an idea also if a shim may be needed to adjust the action. At this point you won't be tightening anything down, just fitting and checking.
