Moderators Lee Knight Posted November 21, 2007 Moderators Share Posted November 21, 2007 I'm on 7.3 and looking at 7.4. Elastic Audio looks like it'll pull me again. Have you seen the videos on the Digi site yet? There's lots of buzz about Elastic Audio beating Beat Detective at drum correction too... So I'm interested. How about you? Members mobobog
Is there any other major enhancement you was waiting for apart from elastic audio and beat detective?
Moderators Lee Knight Posted November 21, 2007 Author Moderators Share Posted November 21, 2007 Elastic Audio is the deal for me. Easy import of loops etc. For $49 it seems like a no brainer. Just curious of others have tried and like or dislike it. Any compatibility issues, etc.
Members MrJoshua
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm giving it serious consideration.
Members birdyyellow
ive heard a bunch of complaints about 7.4 so far as far as bugs go. check out the duc forums. just stick with 7.3 until they work everything out, youll be a lot happier. Members Def_Pearl_Pilot
I got it and I love it. There are a couple of problems with it from what I've read. I haven't personally experienced them. Elastic Audio is a fantastic feature. The main reason that I love it is that it gives you the ability to preview your music at different tempos. Also, I love the "warp" editing. You can make so many cool effects with it.
Members Johnny the Squirrel
The studio where I do most of my work just upgraded (they were older than 7.3, though). In the past week, all four of the engineers who work in the room have had a problem where the mouse stops interacting with Protools. It's the strangest thing. It doesn't lock up, it just doesn't work with Protools. Other than that, no problems. But it does make you look like an idiot in front of your client when you suddenly have to shut Protools down so you can use your mouse again. Phil O'Keefe
I have not upgraded yet... but I think I might just wait until I get my planned upgrade from my Digi 002 to a HD2 system, which if all goes according to plan, should be within the next month. Anyone want a good deal on a used 002?

Members Matt Hepworth
I cannot get the installer to work on one of my systems. Apparently my computer is "missing a vital component", according to the installer. 7.3 working great. I did play with 7.4 and I think the elastic audio is a bigger deal than I thought. It's worth the upgrade, IMO.
Members PKO
I upgraded to 7.4 2 week's ago.Elastic audio is incredible. The first session I had used it in we had been tracking speed metal drum's for 2 day's straight and starting on the 3rd day the drummer's leg's were like rubber. We tracked the final 3 song's about 40 bpm slower then what it should have been and then I used Elastic audio to get the track's up to speed..........saving the drummer's leg's and completing the session. It's an incredible "cheating" tool that will save ton's of time.7.4 run's bulletproof to boot. And the time compression algo is good enough to make that fly? Wow. Do you need to buy the better time comp plug to make that work that well? I'm still trying to understand if they're saying to use the separate X whatever it's called plug in for final rendering... and that is an additional upgrade? Do I have this right? It does sound pretty good. It sounds best with drums. The longer you stretch out guitars and bass, the weirder it sounds. But in general, it sounds pretty good. Now, with anything other than drums, I would probably rerecord with the proper tempo to have it sound natural. There's more to it then just pitch.
