As of this writing, eleven people have checked this thread.

And I feel like I've let them down.

I wrote nothing entertaining here. No witticisms, no nothing.

Perhaps you were expecting a joke.

Skeleton walks into a bar. "Bartender, I'll have a beer and a mop."

Shortest joke I know.

Perhaps you were expecting some deep insight into mixing.

High-pass filter is your friend. Roll off the bottom end - say, at least anything under 100Hz - off all your instruments and vocals except for the kick and bass to clean up the mud. Declare war on the low mids, especially if you are recording in a small place where the low mids build up and sound really crappy.

Perhaps you were looking for some really great plugins that are cheap.

Blue Cat, Massey, Digitalfishphones, hell yeah.

I'm here to apologize for letting you down. I hope that this post rectifies this situation and you'll forgive me.

Hey, did you hear about the new
? If it's like any of their other products, it should be really great!

I did, and considering the creator was an Austin Community College graduate, we have at least three RNCs (maybe one RNP in there? They look similar) in a rack space to the left of the Daking 1112.

They assembled the first RNC at the college, or so the legend goes.

Let's talk about bits for a second. Not just bits of the bits, but all of the bits. Today's recording engineer is wondering whether to record at 24 bits or 26 bits (read about the debate that rages on here!). It's my belief that the discerning engineer craves the extra two bits that 26-bit converters can deliver. When are converter manufacturers going to deliver?

I think Mark may have told me that? I do remember something about a college involved in this...was a long time since I've heard the story, though, so I don't want to fuel any erroneous internet rumors. Actually, that's not true...I may just want to do that.

Now....did you hear about it first here on this very forum...or were you privy to any special McQuilken/Austin connections?
