Too keep the remainder of this topic from containing too many pages ive decided to make a new thread with just the finished products. Due too the time taken to upload .Wav's ive decided to upload only the pre-master and master in 192kps mp3 format from the 44.1khz 16bit redbook's.

First up is from WWWJD download here...

I will upload new pre's and masters as soon as their finished. Please leave any possitive or negative feedback or discuss openly the quality of the final products.

I listened to both the "pre" and the "post" and to my ears, the pre sounds better and punchier. The "post", albeit louder, is confining too much of the low-end.

I'll offer some advice; I think your next investment should be some room treatment, then maybe some better speakers. Those Yammies are fine for tracking, but I don't think they translate enough of that crucial low-end information that makes a track come to life.

But for starters, some room treatment should make a lot of difference in terms of low-end response. I'd do some research on acoustics, Ethan Winer has a lot of great information on acoustic treatment. You'll be surprised what a difference it will make.

Thanks for the intel il do some reading tomorow. I actuly improved the low end i think in the master i applied alot of detail down their. Neways as for monitoring i can hear alot of infomation around 30hz+ clearly. IF anything id say i could possibly misjudge the midrange. My rooms over treated unfortunetly its dead from acoustic foam and traps, even my monitors are on foam blocks.

It is very difficult to read your writing. Please be considerate and take the time to use some semblance of a standard written language. Thank you.

As for the master vs. the original, what was your process beyond attenuating the lows and compressing the overall mix?

Well i wrote somewhere round 2000 words just on processes and sent them to WWWJD but to note a few. I saw the piece as a club track where mono checking was essential so all processes were checked. I was told it had to be as aloud as a commercial pop track such as Pink and so compressed and limited the dynamics to first exadurate the kick. I then resculped the entire EQ to my own taste of balance which the client enjoyed. I attentuate the bass above 100hz to 1khz because of its loud mix in the verses which destroyed the kick. I then put in sub bass frequencies around 30-80hz to give the track weight. Because the vocals didnt have much strength in the track i applied a a narrow band reverb/exciter to exadurate their frequency range +2khz to around 8khz. Their the major processes i used but their was more.

I don't know about any of that, but, BOY, their music is TIGHT! After this post, I'm going to rush right over to iTunes and Amazon and purchase the whole "EP", and buy the CD from their website, and enjoy more of this electronic dance pop goodness! :D

Yeah, weeman, your detail of that first mastering was wonderful. I especially liked how you made the kick and snare pop back up. :) Seems like this version might be tamed down a little more(?), but I actually preferred your more aggressive one - agressive on the drums and little more commercial squash. All great stuff though and all versions have been EASILY usable for CDs or broadcast. The timing was off for this EP release but that band may contact you about their upcoming full length release.
