thoughts on Presonus Firestation?

I transitioned from a yammy Aw4416 to ITB about a year ago.

I wanted to buy the TC Konnect interface but the folks integrating the system for me (I bought a PC, updated DAW SW, updated sampler the UAD stuff and the interface) ran into problems getting the TC drivers to play nice with the rest of the system. So, they talked me into switching to the Presonus 2626.

I was a bit skeptical cause I consider TC a pro shop and I didnt have the same impression about presonus. However, the salesman I was working with assured me that he listened to all the converters and put together many systems and he'd go prsonus. Support was another item he mentioned.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pres.

In fact I own an expensive pre (1000/channel) and I carefully recorded and did critical listening to compare. I actually like the presonus pres better. I cant quite beleive this. So, Ive repeated the test and always come to that same conclusion.

The converters were noticeably smoother than the Yammy I was used to.

One downside. The signal routing screeens are hellishly confusing.

However, once you set that up you can store the preset.

Its working for me. However, be sure your firewire chip set is friendly with the presonus. Apparently some are not.

The tunes on line now were all originally tracked on the yammy.

However, they have been re-mixed ITB.

In some cases the bass was re-tracked as well as a few vocal lines.

So, its mostly Yammy and some Firestudio you are hearing.

The drums are all sequenced and sampled.

That's Steve Gadd hitting those toms.

Bob Clearmountain tracked the snare.

(I only work with the best)

I need to upload some new stuff.
