MIDI noob with a question about recording EZdrummer loops in Protools.

So, I was hoping someone could help me with this. I just learned how to use my synth to control the MIDI in EZdrummer last night. Seems like it's a lot easier to record drums this way than to have to "write" drums by clicking and drawing the patterns I want. I had a question to simplify things though.

Is there any way for me to record in a looping fashion, so that I could say start recording a loop of two measures, then go through on the first pass and record drums, then record the snare on the next pass, then record the hi-hat, etc. in that fashion? So far, every time I try to record while looping, it just erases whatever I've done on the previous loop. Surely there has to be a way to record with "addition looping" if that makes any sense whatsoever haha. Hopefully that made sense though, and hopefully someone can tell me what to do.

I just figured there has to be a way to set it up so I could record each part of the drum track individually, and then loop everything. Thanks in advance for the help. :thu:

It overwrites by default, I don't know of a way to make it addative. You could always make each drum part a separate track, and them bus them once you get a mix you like.

Grr. I was really hoping there was a solution other than this... That seems like so much more work than if there was just a way of doing addative loop recording... :(

Nope no difference.

The button that is highlighted called "midi merge" turn this on. Then stuff gets written along with anything already recorded.

If you don't have the full window for the transport panel go to view/transport/and check everything.

Thank you so much. That is exactly what I was looking for. This should make programming drums so much easier. Thanks so much!
