DreamOn Pro - one of the funniest software "ads" I've ever seen!

Can someone tell me why my .jpg's show up as thumbnails? Thanks.

There are two ways of posting pictures - either as an attachment (in which case, they'll show up on thumbnails that people can click on to enlarge / see easier), or by using hyperlinks to the remote URL that is hosting the image.

To hyperlink, copy down the web address of the picture you want to post, and then insert it like this:

(url)www.whateverwebsiteyouwant.com/abc.jpg(/url)

Replace the ( and ) with [ or ], as appropriate - I just posted it the way I did so you could actually see the code.

Two things to be aware of when hyperlinking:

First of all, some people get ticked when you "jack their bandwidth", and since it utilizes THEIR web site and its bandwidth resources, you want to be mindful of that when sourcing your images. Some people even go so far as to have scripts that (or manually) change the image you THOUGHT you were posting, to something disgusting and vulgar, and because what you see (and what is in your cache) is based on what you saw there, when you post it here, you don't notice they substituted a different image for the hyperlink.

I've banned people for that, so remember - it's your responsibility to take caution in where you source your images from, and also to make sure you're not violating any copyrights. That would be the second concern. We ask that you don't post pics of stuff you don't have the rights to post, or permission to post. Copyrights should be respected. :)

As far as "cool" sources, images from government sites are usually OK. Your larger web based retailers generally don't care (I asked Chuck from Sweetwater if doing so with his images was cool with him, and got approval :phil: ), most gear manufacturers and studios don't care as long as you're not using those images to attack them. Images that are in the public domain and any open source or Gnu licensed stuff, and any public domain stuff on Wiki is a good resource, and of course, for your own images, a free service like Photobucket is a good choice; it allows you to upload your images there, and then directly hyperlink to them here, or anywhere else you want to, in order to "post" them. Doing that, along with the url /url codes I posted earlier, is usually the safest way to post pics.
