Members QuinnsTunes
Hey all, I'm using Logic 9 and recording my own vocals for an upcoming CD and trying to really get the vocal sound I'm searching for, but ultimately my tracks still sound a little harsh. I'm trying to get the sibilant reverb sound that's all over Phil Ramone's George Michael covers record, and similar to Kevin Shirley's work with Steve Perry and Journey on Trial By Fire. I'm using the Space Designer reverb and have a pretty natural sounding hall, but it always seems like there's too little or too much. I've read that using a high pass filter to apply the reverb only on certain sibilant frequencies is one way to get that effect....Any advice on how to set up a chain like that in Logic 9? I'm using a Duet interface with an MXL V69 mic. Thanks for any advice!
Members QuinnsTunes
FWIW Been checking out the trial version (60 days!) of the -112 dB Redline reverb and it's pretty amazing sounding. Just experimenting right now to get some of the sounds I was talking about but it's pretty spot on.

I am not familiar with the recordings you refer to, but you could make a copy of the vocal track and with a high pass filter out anything below 5-6k..then send just that via a buss to your verb.
