Sound Quality

[Perceived output level] Pretty high - as high as an old DiMarzio Super Distortion Humbucker (see my review of that pickup, too). At one time, I had the SDS-1 in the middle next to that humbucker and they were pretty comparable in volume (nope, I am not kidding). [Tone] Believe it or not, ____very____ similar to the DiMarzio Super Distortion Humbucker. So similar, I decided that I did not want them together in the same guitar. My pickup selection goal is a flexible variety of sounds. [Sonic evaluation] This is a noisy pickup (note how old it is - perhaps newer ones are better). Noiser than the stock Squire pickups, and my electronics cavity is fully shielded. Very suitable for crunchy bridge position next to other Strat pickups. [For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable] Very suitable for bridge position next to other Strat pickups. I was not pleased with it in the middle position for my style.

It took a while, but I finally found a permanent home for it.
