Members DigitMus
"Best for the money" is kind of a moving target. I have 5 Brauners, and I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Since their reputation was built on their tube mics, I'd suggest getting a Valvet. It's less than the VM1, VMA or VMX, but still gives you 2 polar patterns, and the distinct Brauner sound. I love mine (on vocals, piano, acoustic & electric guitars, drum OHs, hand percussion...and so on) Scott
Phil O'Keefe
I think Scott's right on the money here. You'd need to ask yourself what you want to do with the mic first before you can make any cost vs benefits analysis, but IMO, it's kind of hard to go too far wrong with that particular brand - their products are first rate across the entire line, so you'd be getting something nice no matter what you purchased - it's more a question of suitability for the task / singer at hand.
