Phil O'Keefe
It's called the Qu-16. 16 mic / line inputs, three stereo inputs, four effects processors (and four dedicated stereo Efx Rtns), 16 busses, 17 100mm moving faders, built-in 18 track multitrack recorder for recording direct to a USB drive, 16 digitally controlled preamps (with total recall), full-color touchscreen, dSnake port for remote I/O up to 120 meters away, DAW control via MIDI, USB audio interface capabilities... there's even an iPad app for remote control. I'm not sure what the pricing is going to be yet, but this certainly looks interesting. http://www.allen-heath.com/uk/pages/home.aspx
Members CME
Yeah I had gotten an email teaser about that a week or so ago. Definitely should be a great little mixer. I love the iLive system at our church. Now if I could just get the powers that be to upgrade the Speaker Rig. Anywho back to the A&H board. I'm interested in how many channels it really is. It says you can use it with their 24 channel stagebox from their GLD series. And someone on the iLive forums said it should be able to do 22 in and 12 outs. Would be a great little mixer for our youth group. And if I was putting together a PA for our a band it would be at the top of the list. Well depending on price, and how many inputs the band needed. I'd expect it to sound as good as the iLive series also. So it would definitely be right at home in a studio set-up also. The control surface capabilities and USB/Firewire connection makes it even more at home in the studio.
Phil O'Keefe
Anywho back to the A&H board. I'm interested in how many channels it really is. I'm not really sure yet... but at least 22 would seem to make sense - 16 mono inputs, plus the three stereo inputs. If you care to include the four dedicated stereo effects returns in the count, it should be at least 30 channels. I don't know where the person on the iLive forums is coming up with 12 output channels - maybe they know something I don't. The press blurb says 16 busses, but they may be counting internal aux sends in that total. I saw something that suggested a European retail price in the $3,200 range online - still no official word on USA price yet - at least not that I've seen.
