Members Anderton
Here's my situation. I have DSL pumping out RF at 54 MBPS. A D-Link PCMCIA card in my Windows notebook computer picks it up just fine. My wife is using a silver Mac G4 desktop running OS X 10.2.8. I want to be able to put a PCI card into her computer that will pick up the DSL signal. Any suggestions on a) what to get, and b) how to install it? Members amplayer
The easiest way to share a broadband connection is to get a router. It's even easier if all your computers have wireless cards in them because then you can get a wireless router.I have a Linksys wireless router in my house, and I have 2 Macs and one PC that all use this router to access our cable modem.Plus, with a router, your computers will be sitting behind a firewall, and that means it is much easier to keep those nasty virus and worm programs away from your PCs. Members where02190
You've already got the wi-fi, a wireless router would be redundant. Get an airport card for the mac, and it will see the wi-fi fine. Just run the Airport setup utility once it is installed (applications-utilities-airport setup). Members offramp
By your description, it's either a Quicksilver or a Mirror-Door Drive G4. Like where said, get an Airport card for it; there's a slot for it on the motherboard/side door, right next to the modem. When closed, it sits just behind the front faceplate, and just above the DVD drive. And get her out of 10.2.8 already! yeesh...at least Panther. Members Brittanylips
Airport Card Airport Card Airport Card! I would also encourage her to upgrade to the latest OS. Wireless network connectivity has benefited from recent upgrades. -Peace, Love, and Brittanylips
