Members d. gauss
haven't posted here in ages. anybody know how to take a midi click out of a sequencer/DAW and make it turn a light switch on and off. i.e. a visual rather than audible click? thanks in advance if you know of a way to do this or a device that does it. -d. gauss
Members Hard Truth
I need something like this also. I saw such a device at a NAMM in the early nineties but not lately. I also wonder if a software equivelent could be possible. It could make your computer screen go from full screen black to white with the MIDI tempo. I wish they would build such a feature into DAWS. Members blue2blue
It would probably take some calibration, of course. When I'm recording myself I often keep an eye on what's going on on the screen, particularly if I'm trying to match human time. I find that I don't much have to think about it, it just sort of absorbs in. That said, I still have a bit of trouble coming in on a first downbeat just by looking (ie, if there's no click track intro). (And, of course, there's no real guarantee that the visual alignment this time is precisely the same as next time. I think screen display comes toward the end of the update priority chain.) Members gtrbass
There is a new device on the market that does exactly what you are looking for. We bought one of the prototypes recently. Projected beat image-arc can span inches or yards Slaves to MIDI - Use instead of (or in conjuction with) a click track for better recording. Follows your sequencers tempo changes Highly visible to players AND the control room Bands - Great rehearsal tool to identify who's having timing issues. Easily visible to everyone in the room. 48 programmable tempo storage locations for live use Step through programs with a standard footswitch. Can easily be seen in your peripheral vision. More effective / less intrusive than an audible click track Battery or AC powered Go here: http://www.lasermetronome.com/
