1/4" expression to MIDI converter?!?!

Trying this forum, because Anderton-ites are most likely to have an answer.

OK, after hours of searching for a device like this.....

Here's my scenario:

I have a Hart/AlesisDM5 electronic drumkit. The DM5 only has the 'switching' style hi-hat control. I want to add a continuous-style HH to the kit, but since I am using soft-synth drums, I don't want to replace the DM5... I hope to continue to use it as the trigger-to-MIDI device.

All the electronic HH pedals, use 1/4' jacks. The CC style being a simple resistor based design. I've found DOZENS of pedals, brains, even DIY kits built on the existing formats.... but nothing that will get me from a commercially available HH pedal, to MIDI without using a brain. Even the Roland TMC-6 is ~$200...and more than I need.

Has anyone seen a device that can connect to the pedal, and generate the MIDI CC data, plus the 'close-hat' note?

@witzend. :cry:

And thanks.

Jeez. :mad:

I really, really tried, to communicate that I UNDERSTAND THAT.

I'm looking for a way to get CC data to the computer in addition to the trigger data from the DM5. Without buying another brain.

If someone manufactured a self-contained HH controller, that had a MIDI jack on it, that knew enough to transmit CC and a piezo element that could send a note on msg.... I'd be in bizzy. BUT APPEARANTLY, NO ONE DOES. So I was hoping for a little box, that read the resistor value of a production pedal, and translated it to MIDI.
