With much hype placed on the Celtics vs. Lakers NBA Finals, here's a comparison of the last time these two teams met for the championship:

1987: $3,700 got you a Macintosh SE with a 20 MB hard drive, 1 MB of RAM and an 8MHz processor

Today: $1,200 gets you an iMac with a 250 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM, and a 2.4 GHz processor.

I found an inflation calculator that helps put things into perspective: $500 back in 1987 is worth approx 933.78 (well, that was for 2007)

1987: 8 bit Nintendo Entertainment System: $200 ($373 inflation adjusted)

Today: XBOX 360: $279

My one memory of the series back in 1987 is watching the game on the monitor while playing a solo piano gig at a Phoenix resort. I was in the midst of preparing to move to LA at the time.

I relocated in July of 1987, and I've been a Californian ever since. I'm looking forward to this series, but there's no matchup like Magic & Bird. Even so, it's gonna be fun!

Go Lakers!!! :thu:

Best,

Geoff
