Running Logic Studio on a 1.83GHz 2GB (upgraded) Mac MINI

Hey guys,

Any experiences? I'd really like to be able to save some cash and go with the mini; I already have a cinema display. I'd only be using it as a studio computer. I am, however, worried about it being too slow -- no problems on my 2.2GHz 2GB mbp. The 1.86 worries me, but I think the dual cores may save the day, as well as upgrading the RAM to 2GB.

Oh, not to mention I would of course be using an external 7200RPM FW HD.

Thoughts?

It really depends on how you'll be using it. If you want to run a lot of CPU intensive plug-ins (like reverbs, amp sims), then I'd suggest you're making a mistake. If, on the other hand, you're primarily running a lot of tracks but only a few plug-ins on aux buses or something, then you're probably fine.

You can offload some of the CPU by getting an external hardware unit and connecting it via S/PDIF or even analog if you wish.

I think you'll be fine. I've heard a number of people using Mac Minis successfully, and I was even considering one of these myself, using it with an external HD.
