Moderators Lee Knight Posted December 21, 2009 Moderators Share Posted December 21, 2009 The best drummer I ever had the joy of sharing a stage with passed last night at 9pm. He was the kind of guy that would have you laughing so hard it made you hurt and so happy to be alive and in his company. A slow night onstage with 3 people in the audience was fun with him around. Cause he was a riot. Spike Jones every other bar if need be to get the smiles going. And when we had to opportunity to play the big stages back in the 80's... the guy was a star. Him and I, back in the early 80's, played to together in 3 consecutive bands. We got to be a package deal for a while. Drums, Mark Spriggs. Bass Lee Knight. The San Diego rhythm section. I was always aware that I was getting the better end of that deal. We got in trouble together, shared triumph and loss and dreams together. We shared a total passion for great music. And though we lost touch in later years we reconnected via his Caring Bridge blog when I learned of his cancer. Mark, I love you, man. Tear it up in heaven. Moderators Lee Knight Posted December 21, 2009 Author Moderators Share Posted December 21, 2009 Yeah... I'd put it up as soon as it became available a few months back. Unfortunately, and I didn't mention this at the time, the clip came to light due to his cancer.

Members Dessalines
Sorry man. Some of the most lasting human relationships I've had in my life were with people I was in bands with. Condolences.
Members blue2blue
I'm sorry to hear of your friend's passing, Lee. Since I'm something like a decade 'ahead' of you, I have to tell, you, there will be more... and more. I see the shadows getting longer and the days getting shorter. Friends who once seemed so much stronger and healthier than I am are now gone... All we can do is take the beauty and pleasure -- and joy and sorrow -- of this moment in the sun. Cherish your friends and loved ones and cherish each day.

Members rasputin1963
Lee, you've had something of a rugged year, have you not? (I'm not being flip, I'm completely in earnest). This year has been rough on me, too.... I can sympathize. The thing about "rough years" is that one does an awful lot of maturing, growing and changing for the better... So it's a paradoxical kind of thing...

My mom, dad, and wife. And my old best buddy passes. It has been a crappy year with regards to the health of the people I love.
