Members ggm1960
The 15" MacBook Pro core 2 duo computer I bought in late 2008 has been a fantastic machine. I've been running Logic, Digital Performer, Reason/Record and a bunch of other audio/video programs and plug-ins with hardly a hitch. I've been so happily impressed with it's performance that I'd decided to step it up and get a new 17" 2.53Ghz i5 MacBook Pro for an even more blissfully transcendent slice of pure Apple heaven right......? Yeah.....um......maybe not so much. The first utterly amazing thing that has happened is that my beloved easy chair combination of Reason/Record and the Line 6 KB37 is now broken! The KB37's transport controls and keyboard simply refuse to work most of the time. I suppose I should just be happy that the audio continues to work. So I wanted to install Logic on the wonderful new machine, however, the serial number for this expensive software purchase that worked fine on the other computer is now inexplicably invalid! Um, how can that be Apple? Apple? Apple Support? Hello?:soapbox: I'm kinda losing my enthusiasm to install any of this other software wondering what's gonna go wrong next. If only I knew a couple weeks ago what I know now! Thanks Apple!
Members Ed A.
Try using Migration Assistant from your Utilities folder to transfer everything from your 15" MacBook Pro to your 17" MacBook Pro. I did this when upgrading computers and all my apps (including Logic and Final Cut Studio) work fine.
Gus Lozada
That ^^ ... AND check the drivers and updates available for OS X 10.6. It is not the same thing and the older drivers won't work on a new machine.

Yes I'd used migration assistant the last couple times I've upgraded my macs, however, I thought it might be a good time to start fresh figuring there was probably some extraneous crap I could do without. If things don't take a turn for the better soon it's certainly still an option!

I'll have to contact apple about my logic problem. As far as my KB37 problem there are a couple things I'll be trying today. It's a battle but I won't go down easy! Thanks for the suggestions guys! Members ggm1960
I got the Logic problem straightened out but the Line 6 KB37 - Reason - Record problem is highly annoying! Eliminating all connections (except the power adapter) to the computer (17" MBP MC024LL/A) and re-booting I can connect the kb37 and the Record dongle to the computer, start Record and the kb37 keyboard works. Now if I quit and restart Record the kb37 keyboard will no longer work. I've tried the different USB ports, tried a powered USB hub, and the keyboard works first time, every time with Record on the old MBP. The audio portion of the kb37 never fails. If I quit purchasing products from every company that's left something I'd bought in the rear view mirror I'd be left sitting here playing with a couple of sticks! Members ggm1960
My problem with the Line 6 KB37 is definitely tied to Reason/Record. I'm fairly certain that as soon as I learn which file(s) are storing keyboard information or if I can do a thorough un-install of the programs and then re-install I'll probably be in business.
