My Walking Dead thread...

If this belongs in a different forum, feel free to move it there, but I didn't see a Walking Dead thread on the site and wanted to start one.

First, let me say that after watching the first two seasons on AMC, I have just started reading the comics. Also, PLEASE NO SPOILERS. Thank ye.

Second, let me say that Laurie Holden can eat crackers in my bed any time. Indeed, I'd go walker for her. Too bad they killed off her sister, I'd have done them both at once--an extra-terrestrial observer would have seen two blonde babes and one happy Jew.

Third, more Daryl Dixon. I ain't no babe or no pouf, but Norman's the coolest.

Fourth, is there gonna be an episode where Gianna Michaels has to take her top off to save everyone from the zombies?

Dunno who that person is or what that tv show is about, but the real question around here would be, is she any good as a guitar player? And (for my own personal curiosity), does she dress like Glinda the Good Witch?

That's about all I can think of to contribute.

After further soul searching and self pondering, the meaning of the question whether it's important or pertinent, if necessary and required. Should my input in this discussion help the OP to continue in their quest for this question to be further enhanced with my self important opinion...

I now know...

I don't know what to say.

Is this a movie or something?

Wasn't there already a movie called "The Walking Dead"? (Just checked IMDB. 1936. And then a whole bunch of people who couldn't think of their own titles for various movies, TV shows, etc. How do these people get jobs in the movie business if they don't have a single original idea? Uh... never mind. Incompetents hire other incompetents.)

Anyhow, sounds boring and stupid, even before the synopsis. Even for what passes for a movie these days.

It's a TV series. About a zombie apocalypse.

I haven't followed a TV series in many years, but this one is filmed here in Atlanta and I have some friends who've appeared in it as zombies. So I watched it, not intending to become a regular viewer. It actually turned out to be a seriously quality show, and I've now seen every episode. Who'd have thunk? And as the OP alluded, it's based on a comic book series which is also very highly regarded (haven't read any of the comics).

Not the kind of thing I thought I'd ever get into, but I'm really enjoying it.

It's an orignal series on the AMC channel. For a distant musical connection Scott Ian of the band Anthrax played a zombie on an episode (or perhaps it was just a short webisode). Anyway....I wouldn't walk across the street to see Anthrax but he did very well as a "walker".

I got that, maybe it would be better to post this in Open Jam but there may be more than just a few that will add to this here ( I will probably be proven wrong but that's alright, enjoy ). I couldn't help myself for my replies.;)

We all have our guilty pleasures. Some of my smarter 3DW friends watched the Buffy vampire TV show religiously. I mean, a couple of these folks had been literature instructors at university...

Me, my guilty pleasures run more to Law & Order reruns and ambling, easy-going British cop shows where every episode some sleepy, midlands jurisdiction undergoes a series of bloody murders but the crusty old detective and his green, upstart assistant just sort of shamble around solving the crime in what appears to be an utterly relaxed manner as they tour sunny meadows and hang out in charming small town squares and walk along barely moving canals, whether it's on Inspector Lewis, Midsommer Murders, George Gently or others. Love that stuff. But it's so insanely fabulistic. I mean... they might as WELL have a zombie apocalypse as have a string of 3 or 4 murders every few weeks in Oxfordshire (where there hasn't been a murder in many, many years, last time I checked).

If Walking Dead is anywhere as high quality as AMC's Mad Men, that must really be something. That's an incredibly sharp show, though I've only seen the first few episodes. (Maybe I'm 'saving' it... but as much as it knocks me out, I seldom feel like clicking it in my Netflix streaming queue... as long as there are Law & Order reruns to watch. :D )

Why guilty pleasures? I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. It's a good show and I watch it. :idk:

Yeah, well that's hardly the point is it? Certainly the point of The Walking Dead isn't to convince anybody that a zombie apocalypse is imminent. What it actually does is explore the various ways that civilization and human nature can be broken down - or not - in the face of a horrific life or death situation/societal breakdown. The zombies are slightly incidental, although cool, and formidable.

If

I haven't seen any of Mad Men, but I expect I'll catch up on it one day as I've heard lots of great things about it. Breaking Bad too. But I hardly ever turn the TV on - I really only have time for one show at a time. Then again, TWD isn't going to be on again till fall, so maybe I'll check out one of those others on Netflix.

I not know that. Now wouldn't it be discrimination of they didn't also feature Sebastian Bach and Bret Michaels?

At its peak, the show was, indeed, brilliant. It peaked early.
