I THINK there are better metal bands and metal drummers. Like Human Remains and Dave Witte. Dillinger Escape Plan and Chris Pennie. Members Scheming Demon Posted August 11, 2002 Members Share Posted August 11, 2002 Symphony X is a prog rock band, they are symphonic progressive metal. Sort of a very heavy metal version of Yngwie Malmsteen meets Dream Theater. Jason is a great drummer and Symphony X is every bit as talented as Dream Theater and arguably maybe a little better. I personally like DT's songs better but SyX is right up there. DT is way more known and successful (especially in the US) but my hat's off to anyone who can make a living playing music that progressive. All these so & so is best opinions are a complete waste and just a popularity poll. Best what? Most creative, most unique, most polyrhythmic, fastest, plays for the song, longest hair, what?
