Good drums for $600

I need the complete shabang.

Cymbals and everything.

I am willing to buy used also.

I want a good weezer type sound.

Im a rookie drummer, I only want to use them for solo recording and such.

hmm...for that amount of money you'd be better off trying to hire somebody. Seriously you gotta raise more cash to get anything of decent quality. You could easily blow that 600 on the accessories for the set-new heads, cymbals, any additional hardware, etc.

If you want a whole setup for 600 bucks you're gonna have to go used; anything new with cymbals for 600 bucks out the door is gonna pretty much suck.

You should be able to find something on the level of a couple year old Pearl Export or Tama Rockstar setup with okay (probably not great) cymbals for around that price.

Hint: skip eBay unless the seller's local. Shipping on a drumset is ridiculous (due mostly to box size).

If you can find a cool guy (or gal of course) local that buys and sells kits regularly - that's your best option.

Look for a used Premier Cabria. A new kit sells for under $600 from musicians friend, a used kit (especially on ebay) will be much less. You can use the extra cash for cymbals.

I played a Pacific FS birch kit the other day. It was very very high quality. I would definatly use them to record. You can get one for $599 with all the hardware. So if you could get a little more cash to get some cymbals, Im sure you will be incredible happy. Think about it, these drums will have a higher resale value as well. Plus they are good enough to keep for a long time.
