Anyone play Taye Drums?

Does anyone here play TAYE drums? I like the configs and finish options that they offer. What about their sound and durability?

Modern drummer gave them rave reviews. If you run a search on google i'm sure you can find it. They are by far the most drums for your money, followed by mapex. I've seen and briefly played a used one at guitar center a few months ago, it was the natural maple finish. It looks nice and played nice too. I thought it sounded just as nice as its tama and pearl counterparts which were sitting right next to it.

I play taye studio maples. They are really sweet drums. I have been recomending them on this forum for some time because they have any and all sizes you could want, beautiful finishes, top of the line hardware, and they sound oh so good. Plus, I have gotten extra toms for it to make it a 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 22 kit, and I got it all for about 1550. I have also played the tour pro which is their basswood kit, and that sounds very nice as well. Hopefully in the future they will start making a birch kit.

I play a set of Taye Rock Pro's. I must say I really like this set. I didn't wanna pay too much for a decent set so I picked that set out. I got em for $865 here in Canada (which is about 4 bucks down in the States. LOL) but for the price you can't compare. They sound good too. The hardware is good. I got two double braced booms and an extra cymbal boom arm and an extra tom holder. The stands are heavy enough to hang a couple of toms off. I currently have a tom and a splash stand hangin on one of the boom stands along with a 16" crash that's on the boom.

The shells on this set is basswood and other "hardwoods", I know that doesn't sound great, but surprisingly they sound ok with good sustain. The only beef I have with this set (very small beef at that) is that the snare doesn't sound great.

I've also read good reviews on the drums and they are definately the best bang for your buck when it comes to drums.

i was looking at their site the other day, i was disappointed that they only have certain depth bass drums for certain diameters. For instance they only have 18x22 and 16x20. I kind of want an 18x20 bass drum. Maybe i'll email them and ask them.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. When I first ordered my set, I said that I wanted a 20x18 bass, and they said they didn't carry it. So, I went with a 22x18. It is strange since the deep bass drums are becoming more popular these days, especially with the custom drum companies. Still, Taye does offer many different sizes and makes great drums.
