Members Oldyallernumero
I currently own an older DW 7000 that i bout used about a year ago for $125. The slave pedal is becoming very annoying and just falling apart. So i really need a new double pedal. Im looking into a DW 5000, Pearl Powershifter and and Iron Cobra. I have played the 5000 and i liked it a lot. I tried the Iron Cobra and it seemed kinda sluggish. I have good thinks about the Pearl pedal (Virgil plays it and has great double bass chops and control) and it is only $250 on musicians friend. Please share your thoughts on which pedal i should invest in.

Members Synesthesia
Axis AX-A2's, Pearl eliminator, Dw 5000 or 9000, Iron Cobras, etc...
Members Oldyallernumero
I like the 5000's but the eliminators are a good deal. $80 i think. Do any of you own an eliminator. If so how does it compare to the 5000's

Members Oldyallernumero
I've tried the Iron Cobras and i don't like the feel of them. They seem way to heavy and sluggish. There is an advantage of the heavy weight for really load heel-up playing. But i like to play heel down because I can play more consistent and controlled strokes. Do any of you know if you can detach the thing at the very top of the powrshifter footboard i know you can remove it from the iron cobra footboard but i am not sure about the powershifter. Members rhino bucket
AXIS X pedals are cheaper than dw and just a little more that the imports. so give them a chance before you decide to buy some imported cast metal piece of junk. Members Oldyallernumero
Ive never played the Axis x pedals i thought they were around $350. How different are they from the Axis A's besides the shorter footboard.
Members rhino bucket
the deference between the X pedals and the A pedals is some kind of beater adjustment. the footboards are not shorter in fact i pretty sure you can get a longboard version of the X pedals. as far as price check out midwest percussion, last i knew they were cheaper than dw 5000's but more than iron cobras. i thinking they're around the $300 to $320 range. Members rhino bucket
midwest had them priced at $340, so i guess they've went up in price some. they dw 5000's were $329. here a company link, they've got better pictures and explain the deferences in the pedals AXIS . Members chops
i loved my iron cobra when i had it. i would try axis, but i am not sure if i really need to doubles that fast, ieven though it would kick ass to bust out some morbid angel. Members Oldyallernumero
Yes the axis x pedals might be a good idea they would probably hold their value quite a bit if i take care of them and i could sell them and get and Axis A in the future. And it looks like the the foot board if fairly long. I wonder if you can get them in black like the A's that looks so awesome.
Members Drummerboy_25
I know one axis model comes in black but i'm not sure which one it is and if you do buy a axis pedal you'll have to buy a grip peddler for the footboards for grip since their solid still and smooth. Members xerosleep
I just got the DW 5002TH at the guitar center for $250 (on sale) yesterday. I love them!
Members Deathkrush
Haha! My Pacific pedal just broke during the soundcheck at my band's last show. It basically split in half. I used a lot of duct tape and it worked fine, but as soon as I'm getting a second kick the double bass pedal is going straight into the trash. Members rhino bucket
you won't have to buy grip peddlers for the axis pedals! the footboards are just fine for any shoes i've try'd or ever for barefeet or socks. i play with just socks on most of the time. Members Fafnir777
Guys, Guys, Guys! You don't NEED the Axis A. The Variable drive just lets you fine tune the pedal a bit easier- that's it. I've been using Axis pedals since 1990, and I keep the variable drive set all the way to the back. Why did I buy the A's? Because I didn't understand the difference. I could have saved myself at least $100. And the X's do come in Black as well. So, don't think of the X as an inferior pedal, because it's not- from my perspective as a longtime Axis user, the Axis X is better than anything else on the market....it is everything that the Axis A is, except you just have to take the pedal off of the pedal to adjust it. That's the only difference that I've been able to find. Tim
