Members epiarch
i think i may be interested in these sets. i currently have a pearl export select 6 piece with the ISS mounts and all...how would a taye compare to this? i am looking at their 2 higher end sets. i am also looking at a pearl session custom (about 1200) or a tama starclassic performer. how does a taye compare to these sets? would the tama or pearl be a better buy?also, any links that would show close ups of their hardware and tom mounts, etc. they really do not have a good website for that. also, link on places to buy and prices? Members Newman
Taye makes great high end drum kits. If you are looking at the studio maples (which I own), they have thin six ply shells on the toms and seven ply shells on the floor and bass drum. The toms have a nice warm sound and the bass drum's come in deep sizes (18 inches) and have a huge sound. Also, they use a slidetrack mounting system on the bass drum so there is nothing penetrating the drum at all. The slidetrack has a cymbal stand on it to which you can mount your toms. It is very convenient. The hardware is top notch and very sturdy. They have resin balls on them as well for infinate cymbal adjustment. I have played a dw kit, and I can truthfully say that Tayes sound just as good. The price is great on them too. The only thing is that you have to go to a taye dealer. I don't think you can buy them online.
