just got my new band name graphic for my kick drum done

my brother made it for me (he does road signs for a living) the graphic is made out of high quality vinyl (not painted) and if i ever need to remove it all i have to do is run a hair dryer of the surface and peel the logo back off . i'm talking to him about doing some custom graphics on my drum shells too . (by the way the band graphic is in a brushed gold vinyl so it has ridge lines in like a cymbal does which is kinda cool) i talke to my brother about making custom band logo graphics for drummers and he said he would be interested in doing this on the side from his job,and he actually has about 150 different colors available to choose from with the vinyl,so anyone interested in finding out more feel free to contact me about details . i saw the window craphics he did on his car ,and asked him if he could make me a band logo for my bass drum,and that's what started the ball rolling with this ....

we welcome comments on what everyone thinks of the logo in the attached pic of it ... this was going to be a prototype logo for the one i was having him make me ,but it turned out so well that i told him just give me this one

no actually the singer of the band named the band a few years ago.. this was an allready established band when i joined it . but he named the band after a series of events where he kept coming across the name tangerine is all no one in the band is gay maybe happy but not gay

i think the most notable reason he named the band tangerine is because he kept hearing the led zeppelin "tangerine "song,and thought wow what a cool name for a band . (he's kind of a 70's guy)

Nice logo, fonts kinda off but it could pass.

Tangerine is a gay ass name, for a band. There is no otherway around it, it's absoluty cheesy as hell.

wow i wasn't really looking for getting bashed on about the band name,but hey i guess all goes on a forum ..hopefully some more directed comments on the logo graphic itself will immerse . since i wasn't really digging for feedback on the band name but the logo itself ... i'm sure there are far worst names for names out there though .. and for the amount of shows,and the different places that i get to play while touring with these guys . hey they can call themselves the "ass wipes" for all i care . it's work as a drummer which is pretty scarce around where i live ...

also i'm really not seeing how the font is really off when it was scanned from an original source of the logo itself . the only thing he did do which i was aware of is as follows : he opened up a few of the letters to make them more legible from a distance when my kit is on stage .. other than that minor detail (which actually is an improvement) i'm not seeing where the font can be considered kinda off . i'm not trying to start a pissing contest here believe me,but this is not what i was expecting as far as comments goes .... i could understand if it was a logo made out of duct tape or something .

Hey man, for what it's worth I don't think the band name sounds bad at all. I've heard some really dumb and really disgusting names of bands.

Anyway I know my comment earlier wasn't very productive, so I'll say again "nice" because I like personalized drumheads. I think it's good that the color is reminiscent of the band's namesake (at least it seems that way to me) although I'd probably have put a little more orange in.

Anyway long story short - rock on about the logo, don't take any b.s. about the name.

yeah i was really shocked to see a few people on here bashing the band name (whatever the reason there is for doing that b.s.) i guess if my band was called the "assbashers", or the "{censored}packers" which would be deemed as insults to the gay community of the world we all live in . i guess it may seem to be more relevant in the off-topic slamming and gay references to the band name(which really isn't approriate anyways for a drum forum especially if there are gay drummers on here (which i would not doubt in the least) i could see where someone could easily get offended by remarks like those that have allready been made about my bands name) so i'm not even going to waste further time on stupid {censored} like that ... but thanks for your reply that is what i was after.. relevant comments on the band graphic i just had done by my brother for me .. we were considering doing it with some orange in it but we were concerned about what it would look like with the drums being blue, the front head being black, the harware and stands being chrome ,and then all the cymbals having the brass color .. he actually was shooting for playing off the cymbal color in the pic of my kit that i gave him along with the band logo sample,and thought that it would really pull the brass color that the cymbals have on my set down to the bottom aspect of the kit when veiwed by people at shows (he really liked the way the brass color of the cymbals looked with the teal-aquamarine color of my drum shells) .. so all in all i think the brushed gold does the trick which i guess is what really matters...

again since i didn't touch on that in my earlier posts about your comments i appreciate your time for giving your opinion on it

I think bass drums are gay, so I'm going to stop using one.

I hate picking band names...everybody turns into a critic. When I named my kids, I went with pretty standard names "Charlie" and "Grace". I figured that both names were fairly nuetral and wouldn't get them beat up. In fact, I constructed a sort of 'litmus test' for boy names. Basically, every boy's name fits into one of the two following sentences:

1.) "Hey let's go over to _______'s house and have a couple of beers."

2.) "Then we'll go over to _______'s house and kick his ass."

I figured "Charlie" or "Chuck" would make sure my boy was a "#1" kind of player. Waldo, Elmo, Poindexter, etc., all fit nicely into sentence #2 and should be avoided.

Maybe there's a similar band-name test:

1.) "I just saw _______ down at the club and they ROCKED."

2.) "Then I heard _______ was playing down at the gay bar and every hairdresser in town showed up."

I dunno, I'm stetching a bit here. "Tangerine" is pretty nuetral IMHO.

As for the logo itself, it's pretty cool. Most of those custom head companies charge $100+ for a head, so if you can find an effective way of doing it cheaper, I'm all for it. It looks professional, and as long as it doesn't fly off the head, it looks like you've got something good there.

A couple years ago, I was in Key West (...yeah, yeah, more gay jokes...) and I found a place that was selling these giant weather proof decals that you could put on surfboards. I found a cool one that looked like a 1940's era pinup girl. Anyway, long story short (too late) I've got a 16" tall sticker of a hula girl on my kick head...I tell people she's my mom. The one I've got is about halfway down the page, in the grass skirt. I'm getting a little sick of it after a couple of years now, so I'll probaby come up with something new shortly.

Yeah, there's some bastards that prowl around here. For the most part they are bored, insecure guys with small wee-wee's that got molested by their aunt Betty while she was lactating.

I agree with Steve (really off topic), it's a pretty neutral name. That's my only complaint about it...it's just kinda generic. But hey, it's not your band so there isn't much you can do about it.

I've had people laugh at our name, Das Highrollers. It's kind of a joke really. The grammar isn't even correct.

i mean it's a band that i'm playing in and i think anyone would take that kinda personally (especially when the topic wasn't put like this " rate my band's name " for my post . i just feel that it was very off of the point of my post .. but all is cool i really don't take anything being said on forums too seriously anyways like that. i realise that it's not the most desireable name in the world for a band , but as i stated there a far worst ones i'm sure,and the band name was put in place years before i joined it .

Hmmmm....this one might actually work in both. You could split 'em up and "The Nipples" might work in #1, and the "Lovely Bunnies" would work in #2.

hey thanks , yeah i checked into various sites online and found around $100.00 being the basic cost for a logo being done . (pretty costly when you really think about it) but my brother did it for a good fraction of that cost,and can depending on whether someone has the artwork allready to go or if it something that needs to be designed .. i was surprised when i found out how much of an actual markup is done on stuff like this . when you look a the actual product cost upon completion it's pretty crazy ... but yeah i was alos surprised that he could offer me about 150 colors to choose from including metallics,alloys,transparents, and mutli colors (which change in appearance depending on lighting) kinda think like an oil slick on a wet road .. but yeah i thought it was cool. especially for the $$ part thrown into the equation ...
