Hi everyone,

Aim new to this forum and new to drums. I have been playing guitar on and off, for about 20 years and have been a production manager for four years In the past. Left the production life cuse of the Internal BS In music and all those coke heads I had to deal with here In Spain (ok, not all, but a bunch). That was one of the reasons I left my music dreams behind. A couple of years back, I dicided to come back to music and dicided to pick my favorit Instrument "the drums", Its the old story, play guitar cuz you dont have a place to play drums. So I move to a new town and meet some cool people who play (13 years younger then me, aim 41 now). We do the beer

Hola Deep2112. Is that a Rush reference there?

Seems like your choices are a bit limited if there are not many musicians in your area. However, you can't get anywhere with a drunk bandmate.

If it were me, I'd have a talk with him and tell him if he can't clean himself up then he's out.

As for new drums, it's all a matter of personal choice. The kits you mentioned are all fine kits although I'm not familiar with the Pacifica brand.

Good luck!

A drunk bass player who can't get it together isn't really much better than playing without a bass player at all. I'd start looking for a new one if this guy can't get his life sorted out.

In the meantime, you can play without a bass player if you're creative. You play guitar, right?!? So borrow a bass and record your own tracks along with a click, and you and your guitarist can jam along to that until you find a new bass player. In addition, there are all kinds of new drum machines out there that have programmed bass tracks on them, so get one, program it, and play along to that until you find a new bassist.

Good luck.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your Input there, and yes thats a good Idea. I will propose this tonight In our rehearsel before the bass player comes In. Its a ugly situation, but worst was lost at sea. I apreciate your concern, thanks. Good care and BTW, nice kit you have and wish I had a basment like that:)

Tell your bass player to get drunk after rehearsal. My ex wife left me a few years ago and I managed to keep my life together. I love booze but I don't drink it for the wrong reasons.

Are you talking about a Pacific FS and not the Pacifica FX? I'm not familiar with Pacifica either. Anyway, there is a difference in sound between the Rockstar and the Pacific FS. The Pacific is birch and it sounds brighter and the toms cut a lot more through the mix.

Hi Rumblebelly,

Thanks for the advice. The bass player came In yesterday and he was sober... Ahhh cant tell him when he Is sober, so we gonna waite till he screws up again. After that, or he goes or I do.

Regarding the Pacifica FS, (yeah got mixed up there, Its FS and not FX..LOL). Ok from what I read on there catalog, they seem to be made of birch, but I havent heard any FS yeat. What I do like about Tama Is that It has a wide range for tunning and keeps It pertty good. Thats why I thought about Tama and beacuse Its In the same money as the FS here In Spain. Good care and thanks.
