Just wanted to say that not only have I not seen a whole lot of bashing of certain drummers on here lately, but I also took a stroll over to the recording forum and asked some questions and I've decided that 80% of those people are a$$holes. This forum is always so helpful and useful with tons of people giving good advice, but over there nobody tried to really help out. I hope the drum forum never turns into that.

Curiousity got the best of me and I tracked down the thread you're talking about and I see what you mean. That guy came off like a real ass. I peruse other forums as well and it's been my experience for the most part that there is a much smaller percentage of a--holes here than anywhere else.

Your statements really do have a good deal of merit. Since I'm a drummer, I may be a little biased, but I've always felt as though drummers are part of a more tight-knit community. There are many reasons for this, but I think the main reason is that there just aren't as many drummers out there, compared to the over-abundance of guitarists, bassists, etc. That gives us a little more sense of pride, and we enjoy sharing that with other drummers.

Yeah - I think true bassists and drummer have a lot in common. But then there are bassists who play bass because they couldn't play guitar in their band.

Ah, yes, the disgruntled bass playing guitarist. Somehow I don't think Thunderbroom(and his G&L L-2000) fit into that catagory.:D

I agree. The last time I was in the recording forum, they were complete assholes. Well, perhaps gear snobs is a better term. That was quite a while ago so maybe its improved. The kind of people that tell you if you don't use a Neve pre, you're waisting your time. Meanwhile they're using some Behringer POS...

I've been around a lot of online recording forums and that seems to be a trend.

This area seem to be much more helpful than others on this board.

I think we all know what's up. Its the drums and the bass that make up a band. 'Nuff said. :D

Actually reading kiwiburgers replies in other threads, he doesn't seem so bad. I think pconn got a bit unlucky with his response from kiwiburger. Then again, if they really do get a whole load of people conning them into advice when they're actually only trying to get votes for their songs, I could understand his point.

Nevertheless, I think he could have made more effort to actually try giving some advice even against his better judgement. So in this instance at least, yes, he's an ass.

Oh yeah - the guy with the DW's that didn't even own them. I always thought his advice was somewhat credible too - it's a shame he was a sham. Wasn't he supposed to be a psychologist or something?

yes thats the one:D . yes he said that he was a psychologist. I trusted him for a while and he seemed ok but then it came out he was a sham.
