Members Snake
Catalina Birch kits are good. Other comparable kits are Tama Superstars, Mapex M Series (birch or maple), Sonor 2005 3005 Series, Pacific FS CX LX MX, etc. Any of those should probably work well for you. Members Puck
Yeah the birch catalinas are nice. I personaly for the money would go with the mapex birch drums. (or maple) You can get those sizes plus you get a free 8" or 10" tom from massmusic for about 660 to your door. That includes all the hardware. thats a pretty killer deal for the drums. I think gretsch is close in price it just doesn't come with the hardware.

Also, I am trading one of my Basses for this kit with all the Hardware. i just think that this kit is way better than the '97 (?) Export I have now. Members jonathmm
I had a catalina birch.....now i have a DW finishply kit, Im not gonna say that the gretsch was better, but for the price, i was stoked and would recommend them to anyone.........In fact, I just played a show at the Cat Club in Hollywood and the kit they have set up there is the green Catalina Birch kit, i gotta say it felt more comfortable to me playing on that kit then my new D-dub, although i wouldnt go back....
