My pops got a new set and he's looking for the hardware.

I've only used whatever pedal I had at the moment or could get for cheap off of friends but I really have no experience.

He's looking for something that will cheaply be very reliable and get the job done.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Okay, I posted one reply suggesting a certain pedal, and then changed my mind and deleted it, because a few things crossed my mind. First of all, what's your price range? What one person considers inexpensive, another may not. Also you have to remember that you usually get what you pay for. A cheap pedal is going to be exactly that; a CHEAP pedal. One that only costs $25 or so, brand new, is likely to fall apart sooner or later, and probably sooner, and probably at the worst possible time. IMHO, if your looking to buy new, you need to be prepared to spend around 50 to 60 bucks at the very least to get a fairly decent pedal. This is assuming "pops" is just wanting a chain-drive pedal. Most strap pedals are a bit more expensive (for some reason), and direct-drive pedals are even more expensive.

Which brings to my next question. What type of music is "pops" going to be playing? If he plays something like country for example, durability won't be quite as big of an issue as it would be if he plays hard rock or metal. But then it's always nice to have a pedal that you know is going to last, no matter what style of music your playing.

Thanks.

I was planning on buying it used, either on ebay or from ads around here.

I was thinking chain driven for hard rock music.

The pedals I've used in the past...

Ludwig speed king original: Fell apart

Some Pearl double pedal: did the trick but wasn't really quality, held together.

Some Tama pedal: Side holding bar broke

Granted I don't know the modles of these but maybe this helps.

We are looking for something used and cheap, perhaps around $50, but are flexable.

Thanks.

You might try bidding on this one:

This would be a great pedal. I own the double Roller Glide version myself and it's by far the best I've ever owned, and that's alot. It looks like you would need a new beater for this one, the felt appears to be missing. They've gone pretty cheap on ebay before. This one went for $27.45:

...without the free DVD of course.
