...just for the record...

I've played drums off and on, since I was in jr. high, and am now 44....5 years ago, when I was in the market for a kit, I happened upon my Pearl kit....it just happened to be the nicest kit I could find, for the 'nicest' price....(bought second-hand)

I appreciate all other musicians, whether they are drummers, or guitarist, etc...

I've seen many other nice kits, also...and like the looks/sound of them all...I think if I'd ever purchase a new kit, I'd surely have a hard time, deciding which kit...I've seen many I'd like..Sonor...Tama Ludwig...Yamaha ....DW.....I'd most likely choose from these 4 brands, and of course, consider another set of Pearl...

I'm curious, besides myself, and MattACaster, who else on this forum play Pearl kits?

I'd love to have something like that! Maybe next time around....

I bought my Pearl like 5 or 6 months ago. 8pc Exports. :thu:

I'm playing an early 80's model Export.....dark red wood-grain....22"kick, and the power toms, also...12-13-16

I couldn't pass the deal up...ran across the guy in dire straits, picked up the entire kit, for $200....although, his hardware was almost trashed....I picked up new cymbals and all new hardware

Now, I am just pickled tink!!!

...okok, tickled pink!...whatever that means!!!

..been considering adding either a 10" tom, or A 14" ....but tuned right, the 12, 13 and 16 sound okay together:D

I play a 1996 (I think) Tama Rockstar. It was the year before they went to suspension mounts, so I put RIMS mounts on it.

Works for me. Never much liked the Pearl tom holders and that kept me from ever buying them once I knew something about drums. Back in 1982 when I was shopping for my first kit, I didn't like Pearl because I thougth the Pearl logo (script "Pearl") looked wussy.

On the flipside, I still have a Pearl Free Floating snare drum riding around in the top 2 or 3 in the "things I really want to own someday" list, and I think the new Reference Series kits are a great concept...in fact if I were in the market, I'd be more than willing to annoy my logo issues and tom arm gripes to give 'em a serious consideration.

Anyway, as they say, it ain't the arrows, it's the indian. (sorry to any Indigenous Americans or people from India whom I may have insulted....I'm just a half mick/half kraut halfbreed who don't know no better). ;)
