I called a drum shop yesterday, and asked them to quote a set of cymbales I am looking to buy - with this being the same shop that told me they could "work with me" and get the cymbals that I want for the same price as MF a few days earlier...

Quoted me $100 more than what I can get through MF. I told him the difference and asked him if he could match it - he said "You don't get a warranty if you buy it through Musicians's Friend" I laughed and said asked him if he was sure abou that, and he said he was. Couple more words later, where he re-enforced his statements, and I told him I was in the same position where money talks, and told him thanks anyway...

Well, I fired off an email to that effect to Sabian, and I'm looking forward to their response...which I'm 98% certain will be something along the lines of "not true" - while I didn't name the shop in the email, if they want to know, I'll be more than happy to tell them if they ask.

Thoughts?

you can buy a warranty at MF for like......20 bucks.

i think?

i still dont understand the problem...you want to ask sabian if they have factory warrantys?

if so....im 80% sure the big 3 come with factory warrantys. and tell him also, that an extra $100 doesnt justify a warranty, because GC sells em for 30 bills.

It says on Sabian's website that they come with a 1yr warranty.

Still I wanted to contact Sabian directly and see what they have to say about one of their dealers trying to pull shady used-car-salesman tactics.

I'm not worried about the warranty - I've never broken a cymbal unless it was used and already cracked, or made of tin-foil...:)

Just the guy was making a stand on very thin ice, in a way that is very shady.

Funny part is he is the manager, the only person above him is the owner, who I know of from him being the drummer in a band with one of my friends (who they later fired my friend because he didn't move around enough in his 3ft circle of room on stage)

Anyhow, I hate shady crap and tough-guy tactics.

No, there's other shops too...

Still, I placed my order with MF, and should have them Tuesday or Wednesday. :)
