I'm using a basic round throne, and EVEN THOUGH MY DB IS BLINDINGLY FAST AND LISTED WITH THE TOWN AS A FIRE HAZAARD:D ...

theres always room for improvement. Do you guys who are good at DB use a round throne or the other type, I dont know what their called but its like a bike seat.

I find I balance quite a bit, and my playing is suffering, so I wonder if a wider bigger seat would lend more support, thus improving my speed and precision.

Opinions??

I think what you're referring to is a saddle throne, and btw they're great. I recommend the Pulse Pro Saddle Throne for 40 bucks on MF. I got one b/c my other one was a piece of crap but it's great and my playing has improved, plus it's got a pretty wide base, and thick cushioning.

(BTW, I'm using Firefox 2 for the first time, it's amazing!)

yes, that's what mine is referred to as..'bicycle' seat...it's a 'Percussion Plus' model..4 double-braced legs....hydraulic lever...and shock-absorbed..

Now, Mraia...you BETTER invest in a good throne!!! don't you go setting yur ass a-blaze, along with yur pedals!!

well, hey..this throne I use....the 4 double-braced legs, sure look like they'd be able to accommodate a mounted fire extinguisher!!

if it helps any, in your decision....the throne I have...I got it for $130.00 OTD....don't remember the actual list...but the local music store here, adequately called, 'Lake Charles Music'...is really a great place to deal with....all the employees are musicians....and they will ALWAYS meet, and/or, usually BEAT Musicians Friends prices!!!...Hmmm..I'll hafta go back and look at the 'drum pics' thread...not sure if mine is in the pic?? :thu:

but..I used to have the typical 'round throne...and once I upgraded...Mraia..you will undoubtedly, notice the difference right away!!....I felt the difference, in my upper leg/thigh/hip area, as well as in my back!!!:thu:

I still play in my cheap-ass round throne that came with my first drumset, and I can double bass and play comfortably, but it did take me a while to find the most comfortable positions, and I will sometimes shift where I am sitting to balance myself for fast double bass work. I have also spent a few hours on a Roc n Soc bike seat (or saddle throne), and I can definitely feel the difference in support and cushion, it's very comfortable, but I've grown used to the rigidity of the round throne. If you're uncomfortable with your current throne, and would like some cushion (and you don't mind some bounce in your seat)-give the roc n soc's a try.
