Members sherman22
Dear Fellow Drummers, I think at some point, every drummer falls in love with the sound of his or her drums and cymbals. I know that sounds corny, but its true, when you find that perfect combo of tuning, heads, and sticks, it all comes together to give you that "perfect" sound, that you want. Finding a cymbal that gives you "that" sound, is quentisential to finding the perfect kit. Even though you experiment, and try new ones, what is that one cymbal that you keep hitting, over and over? What is the cymbal that is in every set up you have? for me, I have for years, loved, and cherished the Zildjian Avedis 20" Medium crash. It rides, it crashes, it washes, its dark, warm, trashy, and clean. I can't describe. I have only had to replace it twice in my over 15 years of playing. I can't live without this cymbal. Whats your favorite Cymbal? Which cymbal can't you live without?

Members FitchFY
Though I haven't had it for too long, I am madly in love with my 18" Sabian Vault crash. It's the crash cymbal sound I've always looked for. Insanely versatile, warm, cutting... yet dark and full bodied. Hard to explain, but it reacts so well to so many different ways of striking it. I love that thing!

Members El Glom-o
A. Zildjian 16" Paper Thin Crash Short and bright, but not "toy"-sounding, like most splash cymbals I've heard. Also really like my A. Zildjian 22" Flat Ride.

I just eBayed a 18 and a 16. The 18 has already arrived, and it is the Platonic ideal of "crash cymbal." All you say is true, but I don't really get "dark," ymmv. EDIT: Forgot, I have played, but not yet bought, a K Custom Hybrid Ride. Damn. If needed, I could probably play with a pair of hats and one o' those babies. Members sherman22
Dude, When I played this cymbal at the store, I played like two hits, and I bought it. I love this cymbal. It is simply amazing, and it isn't bright sounding, it has that dark wash that makes K's so great. This is a great cymbal, the hybrid ride is just amazing. Members Mountaindrummer
My favorite cymbal is a 22" Zildjian ride that I bought with my first new drumset about 25 years ago. I'm not even sure what type of Zildjian it is since any stamp on it has long since worn off, but it is very versitile. I can get a dry ping or plenty of wash and overtones by playing on different parts of it. It has a nice cutting bell, cuts through amplifiers, but can also sound very sweet and musical on a ballad. It has very nice musical overtones without being overbearing. (seems to work in nearly any music). I've treid many other ride cymbals, but I keep coming back to it. I really didn't know much about cymbals when I bought it, but I guess I got lucky!

Members rockfister
Sabian 19" HHXtreme for a crash. I like it so much I might buy another to have a right and left one. I also have a 20" Zildjian medium ride my parents bought for me when first starting out that is my "go to" ride.
Members rocklord
17" Paiste Signature Full Crash. I've had it for about 18 months now and when I set up in a room I get someone to hit this on it's own while stand out front and it tells me how the room will sound. I've also just got me a pair of 14" Paiste Sig Dark Crisp hats that - to me - are just perfect. The fact that they're replacing 2002 medium hats says quite a lot. Yes, I'm a Paiste fan but I do try other brands/models before I buy, the Sig's do it every time.

Members polarnewfie
I love my 15" mixed hi-hats that are a Zildjian A top, with a Zildjian A custommastersound bottom. Perfect mix of bright and classic sound. Not too dark or sloshy, not too bright with a perfect chick sound. I sold my Paiste 15" 2002 sound edge hats after trying this pair out. That will tell you how much I like em!!!!!!!

Members cearleywine
Zildjian 20inch Avedis and Cie vintage ride. Looks very much like the constantanople line. It's listed as a medium thin but it is definitely thiner than my medium thin 19inch crash. I've never heard a prettier cymbal. I played all the cymbals in the drum shop and decided on this one. It ran me about $355 but it was totally worth it. They just discontinued it so I'm glad I bought it. It makes my A custom ride sound like a ZBT....well not quite that bad, but the relationship is about the same.
