Members whiskee
I wanted to praise these blue heads a bit. I have this, only as 18" in my bass drum, I've had it there since I got my first drums. Well, out of curiosity, I changed it to the stock batter head yesterday. It sounded awful, thin and liveless in comparison to the evans. There wasn't even need to tune it properly, the difference was that plain. I have now realized how much this head contributes to making my cheap pdp whoknowswhat-wood bass drum sound mediocre instead of painful. Maybe the best thing I've ever bought. Who else has these? Members wuzza
Spray the inside of the cheap shell with a really hard coat or 3 of clear finish of some sort. I forget what kind I used on a cheapo set I had but it helped make things better.
