Members SirPsychoBuddha
I just have a quick question on moongels. Right now i use and am very pleased with my remo coated ambassador drum heads. They give a very nice sound but i was wondering from people who have used moongels, how bad do they affect the sound. I kind of wanted a little bit more of a muffled tone but just barely. I like my toms to sing but would also like to have a a little bit more of a muffled sound especially when i am miking things. I also like the idea that you can cut them to make your own amount of muffling. Any info on this would be extremly helpful. Thanks to anyone who decides to help me with my problem. Members aqualung211
One a' them wouldn't be too much. The gel is very light...and doesn't surround the whole head like the rings. It's only like 4 bucks or so for a pack a' 4. Buy one and experiment with how much you use...start with one. Also, the moongel is the same stuff fake tits are made of, so rub it real nice and you'll know what fake tits feel like (they don't feel nice btw). Members ermghoti II
You can get the "sticky hands" out of vending machines for a quarter, and they do the same thing.
Members fesswrx
I use them on my snare, 14 and 16 " Toms when recording to cut back on a bit of ring but when playing live I remove them so the drums cut more. For 4 bucks they are well worth it and are washable too in case they get all dirty.

Members the DW
Yes, the nice thing about Moongels is that you can place them for best effect. For you, place them with half of it on the rim, and the other half resting on the head. Good sounds!

Members manoeuver
5 years! that's sweet. the sticky hands are a great idea, but I'd always take them off and fool around. If you wanna use tape, skip the Duct type {censored}. gaff tape makes duct tape COMPLETELY obsolete.
