is it possible to buy tickets to see blast live. if anyone knows let me know how (via website, dates, etc)

Here is their website: http://www.blasttheshow.com/

Blast! started as a Broadway show, and then started a touring company in 2001. The film clips are probably from London, where they were filmed as a PBS special.

I went to this first tour, expecting to see more of that percussion, and I really shortchanged myself. The drumming and percussion is just the icing on the cake, as you can see from this clip:

. A beautiful show.

These guys are hot no doubt. Just snares and bass drums. Very tight snare line. amazing. You know these guys put in a lot of practice time.

While I have played in drumlines myself in the past and may again, is it just me, or do these guys (drumlines in general) play too many notes? I mean it's impressive and I'm sure what they're doing is hard, but after a few minutes, all of the sixteens and sextuplets with accents and diddles and rolls, it gets a little monotenous. Seriously, I think drumlines play mostly to impress other drumline players. I've seen high school drumlines that do more of a grrove thing and get people moving. Does anyone move to this stuff?

boomboom - yeah, I think they can play too many notes, but they make up for it with the accent patterns. I think the idea is to have a nearly constant sound, with the accents making up the "melody"

also,
is sweet, if you like Blast!

You know, I never thought of it this way. Interesting. I'll listen to it that way next time.

I saw Blast on the 4th of July 2002 I think it was. My wife bought tickets. I didn't know anything about it. It was amazing. I bought a marching drum on eBay soon after and have been practicing the rudimental stuff ever since. As a matter of fact, on Saturday I'll be auditioning for Snare drum for the Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline. Wish me luck !!
