Is this junk?

Our drummer has an old ghetto double bass pedal which is about to crap out. We need to replace it ASAP, but funds are a little tight so we're trying to keep it relitively cheap. I'm very skeptical of this one, but he thinks it sounds good.

I think a used Iron Cobra Jr. is a better bet. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I don't think I'd gamble on it.

Be careful with the Iron Cobra juniors, too. I've had two of them fall apart at the joint on the footboard. I have a few friends who had the same problem. If you make sure you don't lose all the pieces, you should be alright. It's very easy to lose them when you're playing, though.

you can usually find a DW Pacific double for $99 at guitar center - everything they make is generally fairly sturdy.

OR... you could just tape matches in between your drummers toes on his right foot and make him haul ass one-footed :)

That's the "Vex Pro Touring" double...on which apparently someone has made a deal to import without the Vex branding on it.

I own one, and it's actually a pretty nice pedal. It's fully base-plated, double-chain, solid, lively, and silent. It's not as omni-adjustable as many higher priced pedals. If you need a double, and can only spend 100 bucks, it's one of the better choices you can make. IMO, it's superior to the comparably priced Pacific and a couple others that fall in the $100-$150 range.

Used is a crap shoot, but if a new IC Jr. is within reach, of course that would be a wiser choice.
