What's the Evans plan on the kicks?

I've played around with changing heads. I've basically found that if I'm happy with my head choice, I'm generally not gonna like the new heads I'm trying. That is if I'm like you, trying basically the same heads, just from a different company. However, if you try a different kind of head from a different company, you may like it better. I dunno...if it ain't broken...right?

EQ2s on the Bass drums.

Yeah, I like what I have now, but it doesn't blow me away or anything. I was thinking of trying this Evans setup just to see what else it out there. Besides, the Evans heads are cheaper.

I once had a combo of clear G2's on top and clear G1's on bottom. Good heads, I dug em at first, but over time, the extra brightness in their attack compared to Aquarian Response2's or Emperors started to annoy me. Obviously, that brightness and "chicky" sound can be great for cutting through, but in the grand sceme of things, I didn't like em enough to use em again.

Matt, of course, you can go ahead and just buy heads for one tom and expirement with that first. Since Aquarian discontinued their Double Thins, which I really dig compared to the G2's, I'm going to do this to try out their new "Super 2's." Probably give it a whirl on the 12 inch tom and if I dig it, I'll re-head the whole kit that way. If not, it doesn't hurt the pocketbook as much and I'm not stuck with a kit full of heads I don't like.

How would you say the EQ3 and 4 compare to the PS3?

The EQ4 and PS3 are basically the same thing. The EQ3 and PS4 are basically the same thing. I think the PS3's are a little more open sounding...more boomy.

I personally think Evans makes a superior head compared to Remo. Sound is a subjective matter but I like the way the Evans tune up and last longer.

I use clear G2's over clear G1's. Power center reverse, hazy 300, and a EQ3. I prefered the Emad to the EQ though.
