Members MattACaster
So I'm looking to totally rehead my set. I'm talking both resonant and batter and I am looking at ditching Remo this time around and going with Evans. Good idea?

Members gcdrummer
What's the Evans plan on the kicks? I've played around with changing heads. I've basically found that if I'm happy with my head choice, I'm generally not gonna like the new heads I'm trying. That is if I'm like you, trying basically the same heads, just from a different company. However, if you try a different kind of head from a different company, you may like it better. I dunno...if it ain't broken...right?

I was thinking of trying this Evans setup just to see what else it out there. Besides, the Evans heads are cheaper.
Members k bollox
I like the clear G2's on my toms now. 13x9 16x16 & 18x16 ... I'm waiting on a set of coated to be delivered just to see the difference.
Members gcdrummer
I think you'll have a hard time finding a replacement for the PS3 on the kick. I've tried EQ3 and EQ4...I still prefer the PS3. I'd like to give an EMAD a try tho.

Members BonzoMoon2002
I play G2 coated on all head, Power Stroke Reverse dot on snare, but STILL use a Powerstroke 3 on the bass b/c it's unstoppable.
Members ulank
I once had a combo of clear G2's on top and clear G1's on bottom. Good heads, I dug em at first, but over time, the extra brightness in their attack compared to Aquarian Response2's or Emperors started to annoy me. Obviously, that brightness and "chicky" sound can be great for cutting through, but in the grand sceme of things, I didn't like em enough to use em again. Matt, of course, you can go ahead and just buy heads for one tom and expirement with that first. Since Aquarian discontinued their Double Thins, which I really dig compared to the G2's, I'm going to do this to try out their new "Super 2's." Probably give it a whirl on the 12 inch tom and if I dig it, I'll re-head the whole kit that way. If not, it doesn't hurt the pocketbook as much and I'm not stuck with a kit full of heads I don't like.
Members gcdrummer
How would you say the EQ3 and 4 compare to the PS3? The EQ4 and PS3 are basically the same thing. The EQ3 and PS4 are basically the same thing. I think the PS3's are a little more open sounding...more boomy.
Members Jessz1
I personally think Evans makes a superior head compared to Remo. Sound is a subjective matter but I like the way the Evans tune up and last longer. I use clear G2's over clear G1's. Power center reverse, hazy 300, and a EQ3. I prefered the Emad to the EQ though.
