Members TheDarxide
Pros and cons? I wanted a second drum, as I want a 2nd set of toms, but I may as well just use a tom stand and save the space, a get a double pedal instead.....
Members Carminemw
Double kicks do take up that extra room. I say unless you want a different sound from the 2nd kick or you do a lot of double stops, flams or emphasis shots with the 2 kicks for that big effect, 1 kick with a double pedal would work fairly well. If it's a visual thing...the 2 kicks are always impressive looking....
Members coyote-1
Why not both?! I have two bassdrums, tuned @ a fifth apart. One has a double pedal on it... it gives me real versatility in bass drum sounds and techniques.
Members Dark Slide
I use two but only because I play some ridiculously fast stuff in my band. If I was able to get a nice, clean sounds out of a single kick, I would use a double pedal.
Members MattACaster
I prefer two bass drums. Double pedals just don't feel right to me. I prefer the feel of 2 separate pedals hitting to separate heads.
Members drumsdb
I believe a 2nd bass drum should come with a drum tech. Otherwise, it's more time and effort that I'm already short on as the drummer. That's why I go w/ the double pedal... DB
Members coyote-1
Presumably then you only use one tom and one cymbal??? I believe a 2nd bass drum should come with a drum tech. Members SYMBOLIC
Two bass drums for me. I really don't like the way the slave pedal feels. It feels too disconnected for me, and I have Axis pedals. I can get buy using a double, but prefer the second kick. James
Members faileddrummer
Neither! Use your floor tom and bass drum . That was sarcasm.
