Members zfreak
No I just joined today! The pic that I have is from about two months ago when I was rockin the single bass drum and had a 10 and 12 inch tom instead of the 12 and 13 that I use now. I also didn't have the dw 9000 pedals and hi hat stand in this pic (I got them at guitar center for $550 for the both of them....I know how to haggle!). I spent $1700 last month to get the matching bass drum and 13 inch tom from DW. I forgot to add that I have a 9.5" Zil-Bel invert mounted on my ride and 8 inch Meinl steel cowbell...By the way how do you add pics?

Members GCR
22" Power Ride (I am working with Zildjian on making a 24" Power ride for me) If you're happy with your kit, then you've got a good start... now go hit your rudiments, learn to read drum scores, start studying every genre of music you can, and play for your own enjoyment, not others approval. Peace ~G

Peace ~G I second that,GCR,i also think that a good kit is great to start with, that way one does not have to worry about making another purchase when he/she starts to gig,get your head into some books, instructional videos, get a reputable teacher and go for the gold! While approval among peers is a desirable thing,it will not take you to the top like having the ability to play a serious groove, chops so that you can play what you feel, and knowing somebody that can get you to the top! Members zfreak
Drums are nice. Everything else sucks though, IMO. Can you elaborate on why you think it sucks? I play rock/metal and I believe that this is an ideal set-up for a rock/metal drummer. I like the Z Customs because they are loud have no problem cutting through the mix. I like them because you don't HAVE to smash the tar out of them to make them open up, and when you do they sound good, IMO. I like the ahead sticks because they don't break as quickly as wood sticks (I have used the same set of Tommy Lee sticks for two years now, still look good-plus they are longer which I use for twirling, etc.). No love for the Heavy Duty 9000 DW hardware? I know everyone is impartial to what they like, but I don't think it's a fair statement to say it sucks, by any means. I played drums in Junior high and felt like I learned nothing. I know how to read music and that was all I learned, unfortunately. Our teacher was always working with the other instruments and left no time for us "drummers" in the back row (to top it off, he had no drum skill or knowledge, it would appear, as he was unable to show us anything we were supposed to learn). I have self taught myself to play. I can't afford lessons at the moment as I have returned to college full time (not to mention how much I have already spent). I appreciate the input guys, I really do. If you think something of mine sucks, can you at least tell me why you think it sucks? How do I add pics? I will upload them if someone tells me how! If you think something of mine sucks, can you at least tell me why you think it sucks? Well, I really think he was trying to get your goad a little, he doesn't really think your stuff sucks. It is just a little weird that you are looking for approval for your stuff, that's all. On top of that, that you might want to argue with someone about how it "don't suck" lol Really, equipment is subjective to the user as far what sounds good and what doesn't. If it sounds good to you, so be it. One's heavenly-angelic Z Custom crash is another man's POS garbage can lid. Dig? And besides, can you groove a stinky 2 and 4 backbeat that makes the young girls shake it? That's way more important than your 13" tom of choice. Do your thing! Well, to be honest, i really think its just your cymbals that suck. Sorry i didnt elaborate more. You don't have to get z customs just because you play rock and metal. Also, there are other more musical cymbals that are plenty loud enough for the music you play. Also, i thought that it was the z customs that you had to bash the hell out of to get them loud enough in the first place.

Also, i thought that it was the z customs that you had to bash the hell out of to get them loud enough in the first place. Ok, no problem! I prefer the Z Custom line because they are loud. I have tried other brands of cymbals, and several K and K Custom series, and A and A Custom series cymbals. I just wasn't getting what I wanted out of them. Are they musical? Absolutely! They just didn't project the way I want them to. I like cymbals that have ballz! Plus I think the shinyness and machining hammer marks of the Z's looks sweet, again just personal preference. The Z mediums and thrash ride don't need to be hit hard at all, and they sound amazing to me. They open up very quickly and don't need to be wailed on. The rock and projection series need to be smacked a bit, but I save those for the dramatic areas of a song where the loudness is needed. Trust me, I'm not trying to sell anyone on the Z line. It is just what I prefer. I like loud, aggressive, abrasive cymbals, as that is the music I play. I couldn't show up to a gig with a paper thin 14 inch crash and expect that poor guy to be heard (even mic'd) in a heavy metal setting, could I? NO! For some reason, the Z line is always harped on. For me, it is what I will always use. Even before I started playing drums I would listen to artists who played Z Custom cymbals (unknown to me at the time) and I was like "man those cymbals sound great." Joey Kramer of Aerosmith and his infamous Mega Bell Ride, Lars Ulrich of Metallica with the dyno beats, Ginger Fish and Igor Cavalera all use the Z line exclusively. Listen to their stuff and tell me those cymbals sound bad....quite the opposite, to me at least. All personal taste, of course, but that is why I chose my cymbal set up the way I did. Members zfreak
Current Status: Didn't Happen Before you go on making your assumption that this is a dream kit or it didn't happen, why don't you tell me how to upload pics like I have asked. I don't know how to on this site. Then I will prove you wrong. Stop making assumptions.
Members mparsons
Ahh, if I had read closer I would have seen "BTW how do you upload pics?". I was distracted by "OMG TEH COOL KIT" Go to Photobucket.com, make an account. Upload your picture. Under the picture in your gallery you will se an IMG code, copy that and smack that in the reply box. It'll show up as a picture when you post.
