Members nbabmf
Are these really as bad as I'm reading on random reviews? I just got a whole kit for free... The shells are made by Sunlite... there's a 14in snare, 12 and 13in rack toms, 16in floor tom, and 22in kick. The cymbals are all Zildjian Planet Z's... 13in hihats, 16in crash, and 20in ride. The crash is warped all to hell and looks like a melted record, but other than that they look alright. The hardware is another story... it's cheap, flimsy, and I can't wait to get some skills going so I can justify replacing it.
Members nklarow
Throw those Planet Z cymbals out the window. Look at Sabian B8 or B8 Pros.
Members e-b-e
You said it yourself, that the crash is all warped and looks like hell.....so yeah......the planet Z cymbals are junk. Sabian b8 or b8 pro, Paiste pst 5 or Wuhan S series cymbals are all way better for a drummer who needs a set of cymbals that are economical. Members Guerrilla Radio
Yeah. My friend had them for a short time. A very short time, accordingly. Go for B8s, and, if you really can justify the purchase, go for higher end sabian or zildjian stuff, like AAX / AA / A custom
Members TheDarxide
I've got a ride and a 16" crash. I hated the ride to start with, but I've recently gone back to it, it's nice and pingy. The crash is fine, i could do with a bit shorter decay, but i personally don't think they're as bad as they're made out to be. Sure, they don't sound as good as the higher end ones, but christ.... Members nbabmf
I banged on them some more today. The hihats and ride are alright, but the crash needs replacing. I'll use it as a china... it is that bad.
Members mparsons
IS it that bad? You tell us, you own them after all... I wouldn't spend money on getting even more beginner cymbals. If you are going to replace them, just go for broke and get nice stuff.
Members TheDarxide
IS it that bad? You tell us, you own them after all... I'm guessing that since he said the crash is warped in his first post that his probably does sound like arse, but I have a tough time believing some of the trash I hear about these cymbals. Either I got a really good one, or they really aren't that bad....
