Members Gourd of Ashes
My friend is a drummer that plays on a kit with 2 bass drums but was thinking of downsizing to just one bass drum. He was wondering what pedal ya'll might recommend....he says he likes really tight crisp action. Thanks for any suggestions.
Members RumStik
Tama Iron Cobra, Axis A, Yamaha Flying Dragon, Pearl Eliminator, DW9000, DW5000, are all good, pro-level units. He has to try them and pick it for himself. There's no other sensible way. If he wants to spend less than those cost new, he should first look into the top level stuff on the used market, (eBay, etc). In the lower price ranges, there are so many to choose from, it's almost silly. The subject has been flogged to death here already. A search on "double pedal" could net you days of reading, but again, no one can tell him which one to get. If he's currently using two single pedals he likes, chances are the same make and model is available in a double version.
Members 1001gear
The consensus here so far is Tama Iron Cobras. Metal guys seem to favor this pedal as well; probably because they have no use for dynamics and the pedals can be adjusted for a short over sprung action that'll go just about as fast as you can stomp on 'em. The Axis pedals are also gaining favor - probably for the same reasons. IMO for pros who only do the speed stuff or loud, heavily processed gigs, this is probably the way to go. For players that do regular stuff, that setup may be stiff and mechanical- unmusical. I for one like the beaters to swing freely. Like sticks. Much smoother at sane tempi.
