Members SamZee
Aquarian Texture Coated Response 2 or the Evans G2 Coated I know its all a matter of personal preference and whatnot but thats why Im asking. It would be nice to hear about someone who's tried both and can effectively compare. I intend on a 10, 12, and 13 so.... yes.Appreciate the help in advance, thanks. Members Jarick
I've never been a fan of Aquarians, but I've not used those particular heads. I also don't like coated 2-ply heads on toms, so I'm a pretty bad judge. What kind of drums and what sound are you going after?
Members qwertyMan
I like the collar on Aquarian heads, and their coating lasts a while.
Members DownByLaw
I'm a big fan of the Aquarian Studio X, rather than the Response 2. Has the dampening tendencies of a 2 ply, (it is 1 ply with an underside ring of sorts) while not being nearly as muted and having better stick response. Can't speak for the Evans. Members Guttermouth
the response 2's sound like basketballs and the evans just sound flat to me.if you're looking at coated go with remos.
Members RumStik
REMO coated Ambassadors or Evans J1 Etched. Nothing but beautiful tone on any shell. Period.
Members jenksdrummer
I tried 1 aquarian - the "pinstripe" copy - Performance II, or was it Reponse II - either way I wasn't impressed. Of those choices - Evans, but personally, Remo is pretty good too.
Members junkdrum
Ditto on the J1's. I just got my first set of them from advice gleened from a previous thread and they sound great. If you're looking at double ply heads they may not be for you.
Members fesswrx
I like Performance 2's for recording but for all around live/recording I would go with the G2's. I also very much dislike response 2's.
